Uug son of Een - The Past

Uug son of Een

The Orciler tribe originally 'Orc Killer' got its name from the need to keep the village safe from the bands of Orcs living in the surrounding areas. Although the number Orcs has dwindled in recent years and the origins of the the name have largely been forgotten, the tribe remains focused on fighting skills and survival. However, these are now aimed towards hunting. The tribes people hold strength, courage and fighting / hunting skill in high regard and consider any activity that doesn't use these skills a distraction. They are therefore happy to avoid the cultured southern lands.

Een son of Hak is tribal leader, chosen for his great show of strength and hunting skill and highly regarded by the rest of the tribe. He planned for his son Uug to succeed him as leader. As soon as Uug could walk he began training in the necessary skills and by the time he was 12 he was the better at close combat than many of the older tribesmen.

At the age of 15, as is custom, Uug was sent out without weapons on a year long quest. He would return a man. After 3 months he had traveled further than anyone else had done for many years. One night he was attacked by an passing band of Orcs. He survived and using the remains of their weapons and wood from a nearby tree, he fashioned himself a great axe with a thick solid oak handle. Months passed as he honed his skills often fending off variety of attackers.

One day he happened upon a bard. The music he heard intrigued him and he approached. Over the next month the bard known to Uug as The Music Man, regaled him with stories and introduced him to the ways of cultured society. He learned about cleanliness and manners. He was taught how to shave and how to comb his hair. He soon realised it was time to return home so he bid farewell to The Music Man and set off .

For the next three years he attempted to introduce some of the things he learned into the lives of his fellow tribes people but he was never taken seriously. His father was shamed for his son was no longer the great leader he had hoped for. Uug became isolated.

Eventually he decided that it was time to leave. Time to investigate the cultured southern lands that so captured his heart. He grabbed his axe and a few other belongings and set out on his journey south.
